Glass & Steel Development wins New Homes Award

New Homes Award

Essex Safety Glass' products have been chosen by East London’s “Mini Manhattan”. The colourful glazed-brick apartment blocks, overlooking gardens and a swimming pool has won the London Evening Standard New Homes Award.

The former factory plot is now the site of 1700 waterside homes built by Ecoworld Ballymore and designed by Glenn Howells Architects, drawing inspiration from Manhattan, Chicago and Tokyo.

Floor to ceiling windows are surrounded by steel frames to capture views of the city as well as the garden greenery outside.

More developments are now using switchable glass, enabling residents to open or conceal living areas at the touch of a button. Solar responsive glass is also becoming popular to help customers reduce energy costs and their carbon footprint.
