For centuries timber has been used to create wood floors which are
beautiful, practical and long lasting. In many cases they look
better as they get older.
If its a real wood floor then Treework can help. They undertake the
complete operation of supplying, fitting and finishing; or can
supply customers with the floorboards and the materials for fitting
and finishing a solid wood floor.
Treework has been involved with timber and flooring since 1978. The
current flooring service has evolved from a business specialising in
woodland management and the supply of good quality hardwoods.
About twenty years ago Treework Flooring realised that if they were
to be promoting wood as a serious flooring alternative they must
include a skilled fitting service and this has progressed to be a
major part of the company.
In addition to flooring they offer machined items such as skirting
and architrave and joinery items including doors and staircases.

Treework supply a range of real wood floors in a wide variety of
timbers and a choice of styles e.g. narrow or wide plank or blocks
laid in herringbone or other patterns.
Their speciality is solid English Character Oak plank flooring. This
comes in boards 100mm to 200mm wide, most are 1500mm and longer, the
boards are stress relieved on the under side and they are end
matched (i.e. they are tongue and grooved on the ends as well as the
sides). This is as good a specification for English Oak floorboards
as customers are likely to get. It is hard wearing, beautiful and
suitable for traditional and contemporary settings. The English Oak
is FSC certified making it a very green option.
Other options for solid wood flooring range from light woods such as
Ash or Maple to dark Walnut. The website can show some but not all
options.
Treework also supply a special selection of engineered flooring
which they sometimes recommend in circumstances which are not
suitable for real, solid wood flooring. These boards are finished on
site just like the solid wood floors.
They can also supply other machined products such as skirting and
architrave.
Treework Flooring often undertake specials such as extra wide
floorboards or wood flooring kilned to be suitable for underfloor
heating. As part of their fitting service they frequently stain the
floorboards after fitting or distress them to give the look of an
old wood floor.
Ecological Policy
Treework have always had a strong ecological policy, striving to
ensure that all timber used in flooring they supply comes from
sustainable sources.
The FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) scheme is recognised to be the
main method of ensuring that wood comes from well managed sources.
Treework have attained FSC ‘Chain of Custody’ certification. This
means they are in a position to offer FSC certified woods.
The English Character Oak they offer comes from FSC certified
sources and unlike imported timbers has not been transported over
long distances.
