Solarlux were the originators of the new
generation of folding/sliding external doors in 1983. Since then we
have developed a range of 17 folding/sliding facades for a variety
of application from commercial to domestic. The Solarlux range is
suitable for apartments, balconies, stadia, leisure facilities,
spas, swimming pools, schools, as well as domestic situations -
conservatory, living room, bedroom/balcony and kitchen.
The Systems
Solarlux are the leading manufacturer of
thermally broken aluminium, triple laminated timber and all glass
sliding/folding systems. Glazing from single to triple glazing.
State of the art manufacturing technology, high performance
materials and components plus the benefit of over 25 years’
experience produces durable folding facades able to meet the
specification of the most demanding projects.
Solarlux Systems Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Solarlux
Aluminium Systeme GmbH with manufacturing units around the world.
Applications
Sliding/folding facades can be used in a variety
of applications to break down the conventional barriers between
inside and outside space. The sliding/folding configuration is
suitable for most external wall facades in either commercial or
domestic applications. Commercially sliding/folding doors can be
used in environments such as Spas, Stadia, Restaurants, Leisure
Facilities, Cafes or Bars or any application where use of costly
space must be optimised, yet maximising access but remaining
adaptable to seasonal change as well as modern lifestyles.
In Domestic situations they can extend any room to the outside,
allowing an unobstructed view and a feeling of light, space and
openness.
In balcony situations they enable this precious space in the urban
environment to become part of the apartment or to simply extend the
seasonal use of the area.
To accommodate extremely wide openings horizontal sliding walls (HSW)
incorporating virtually unlimited individual panels are available.
The systems vary from cold aluminium systems creating a barrier
against weather to a range of thermally broken, highly thermal
efficient aluminium and timber systems, surpassing the requirement
of both Document J & L.
Thermal Efficiency
Our systems have been designed so that thermal
efficiency is one of the primary criteria. The systems vary in
performance dependent on individual project requirements. For
example, a whole system SL80 U value as low as 1.3 w/m2 has been
achieved (dependent on size and configuration of system).
Acoustics
Current development in urban areas is often
subject to acoustic controls under PPG24 and Solarlux systems are,
dependent on chosen system, able to make a significant contribution
to noise reduction by the incorporation of specialist glazing
elements.
Testing
Solarlux systems are developed in-house and
verification of performance is proven during independent testing in
accordance with current Standards at the Rosenheim Institute and
other accredited test houses in Europe and the USA. Test results
reveal Solarlux systems performance exceeds current requirements.
Test data is available on request.
Product Range
There are over 17 systems that are available. A
selection is described below:-
SL82 Streamline. A new design that creates an ‘all-glass’ effect
with a narrow frame. Energy efficient. Suitable for Living rooms,
commercial facades.
SL80/81 – an energy efficient, slim profile system that can be used
up to 3m high. Tests at 3000 Pascals have been achieved. Glazing up
to 40mm can be installed.
SL70 – an elegant ‘Softline’ system in powder coated aluminium
suitable for living room, pools, restaurants or wintergarden, where
a wider door is required. Wind and weather proof.
SL67 – a triple laminated timber system that is suitable for either
living room, pool areas. Energy efficient.
SL45 – a fully locking system that is not thermally broken and is
suitable for Balconies, Draught Screens, Room dividers,
Conservatories or roof terraces.
SL25 – an all glass, non sealed system that is suitable for
conservatories or balconies. SL25R has a rubber gasket on the
leading edge of the glass.
SL25XXL – a high performance, all glass slide and turn system.
Glazing from 8mm to 15mm

All our systems have a 5 year parts guarantee,
subject to conditions.
