Munters - History Timeline

Rotor Sketch1955 - Famous Swedish inventor & entrepreneur Carl Munters founded Munters alongside Marcus Wallenberg and two others. His idea was to develop an air-conditioning system based on the use of evaporative cooling and dehumidification. The development of its key components were the desiccant wheel and evaporative pads.

Munters expands

Munters expandsEarly 1970´s - Carl Munters retired from active management. Soon after, Munters was acquired by the Incentive Group. Expansion was continued into new markets through subsidiaries and licensees. Product and application ranges were gradually extended and the distribution was expanded to most parts of Europe, North America and Japan.

1985 - A global moisture control service business (MCS) was started.

Munters Award
1989 - Carl Munters died.
During his lifetime, he applied for close to 1000 patents. In the picture he is awarded a medal by the Swedish king Carl XVI Gustaf.

Introduction to the Stock Exchange

1990´s - Munters expanded and became an international Group with own organization in over 25 countries and manufacturing in over 14 countries. 1997 - Munters AB was floated on the Stockholm stock exchange.


Carl Munters innovations proved to be of significant commercial value. By continually developing new energy-saving, environmentally friendly solutions, based on his innovations, Munters has become one of the world's leading suppliers in the humidity control field.
