JCB Broadcrown - History Timeline

The Foundation of JCB Broadcrown

In 1974, Frank Borgman, Jim Watson and Mike Kowalewski founded an engineering firm called BKW Engineering Co in small premises in Crown St, Stone, Staffs. The business was engaged in the manufacture of farm trailers and general fabrication. In 1975 Mike Kowalewski left the business and David Borgman joined to focus on the installation of diesel generators for the major UK manufacturers at that time.

JCB Broadcrown's history at a glance:

1976 - Broadcrown established

1984 - First company to use programmable logic controllers in generator controls

1986 - First power generation company to be approved to BS5750/ISO9000

1987 - Acquisition of Dorman Diesels Ltd

1989 - Introduction of CHP systems

1994 - Sale of Dorman Business

1997 - Moved to new HQ and factory, Hixon (England)

1998 - Establishment of supply partnerships. Establishment of second factory, Newtown (Wales)

1999 - Broadcrown Singapore formed to support the Asian market

2000 - Broadcrown Inc formed to support the American market
