Ancon Building ProductsLow Thermal Conductivity Wall TiesIn addition to a number of high tensile stainless steel wire Wall Ties, Ancon’s low conductivity range includes the ‘TeploTie’ which is manufactured from pultruded basalt fibres set in an epoxy resin. The TeploTie has a BBA approval and is available exclusively from Ancon Building Products. It has a thermal conductivity of just 0.7W/mK, making it the most thermally efficient Wall Tie on the market. When calculating a U-value it is important to use the actual cross-sectional area of a Wall Tie and the thermal conductivity of the material from which it is manufactured, rather than allowing a calculation program to apply default values. Contact Ancon or visit www.ancon.co.uk for the necessary information. Wall Ties & RestraintsBS5628-1 provides recommendations on wall tie length, embedment, density and positioning. Ties are classified by type. Masonry ReinforcementAncon AMR masonry reinforcement is designed to be located in the horizontal bed joint to improve the structural performance of a wall. It is available in stainless and galvanised steel in four standard widths (60, 100, 150 & 175mm) and five wire diameters (3, 3.5, 4, 4.5 & 5mm - equivalent dia after flattening). Longitudinal wires are flattened to a profile of less than 3mm. A free masonry panel design service is available from Ancon. A design sheet is available from www.ancon.co.uk/PanelDesign to summarise details of individual wall panels. Masonry SupportBuildings taller than 12 metres or 4 storeys will usually require the outer leaf of masonry to be supported at intervals of not more than 9 metres or 3 storeys, whichever is less. The expansion of clay brickwork of up to 1mm per metre will normally limit the practical maximum height to less than 6 metres unless large expansion joints are acceptable under the support. AnconOptima – A standard masonry support system comprising a two-step angle and interchangeable brackets to suit cavities from 60mm to 150mm. Systems are available to support a load of up to 14kN/max height of 7m and brackets are simply changed on site to allow for cavity variations. Systems are specified by using simple load/cavity charts.
Ancon MDC Bracket Angle Support – A continuous angle with a series of brackets welded to the back. The Ancon MDC system is designed for individual applications. It is suitable for cavities from 50mm to more than 150mm and is manufactured in a variety of types and sizes to suit architectural details. The Ancon MDC support system can be specified as:-
Ancon Individual Brackets – provide great flexibility in design. They are ideal for the support of brickwork curved on plan, suspended soldier courses and arches. Tension Bar SystemsAncon Tension Systems are available in both carbon steel and stainless steel in a variety of sizes and finishes. In addition to bars and fork connectors, the systems include couplers and anchor discs.
